Introducing Luke Schiesser

A rare photo of beardless Luke Hey all! I'm Luke, a History major from Austin. I'm a self-professed nerd about a lot of things, both real and fictional. I started college at SMU in 2021, but took some time off due to a death in the family and came here to Trinity, where my mom and dad first met. I prefer the smaller school experience that Trinity offors to the larger, more hectic Dallas life at SMU. Interests I love learning about history, particularly the last 100-150 years. I have tons of knowledge of various fictional universes, from Star Wars to 40K. I've been singing for pretty much my whole life (mom taught me Les Mis, dad taught me Led Zepplin) but I still cannot read music. I did theater throughout middle and highschool, and have been in a few productions here at Trinity, most recently as Ernst in Cabaret . While locked indoors during Covid, I took up modeling (the gluing and painting kind, not the posing for a camera kind) and have a few works I'm pretty pro...

Introducing Ryan

Image
Hi, welcome to ENGR 2192 Intro to Making. I’m Ryan (They, Them),  a lifelong maker, tinker, and daydreamer. I earned my BA in psychology from UT Austin before cultivating careers as an architectural woodworker, then aviation structures design engineer, and now academic makerspace manager and instructor. In pursuit of inclusive community-building, I earned an MA in Creative Leadership from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Taking on the Trinity role helped me rediscover my playful and curious side. Slowly shelved as I acquired the skills to navigate the construction and aircraft industries. Professionally, I started in the family architectural woodwork business. Not knowing a thing about woodwork or manufacturing of any kind, I assumed I’d be project managing. Cutting deals and schmoozing. I was wrong. I began on the shop floor. My father's crew was sweaty, covered in prison tattoos, and incredibly skilled. They had recently finished the historical restoration of the Texas ...

Introducing Jay Salter

Introduction: A photo of me in Washington D.C. Hi, my name is Jay Salter and I am a senior political science major at Trinity University! I am originally from Katy, Texas though my family are from England, so if you ever hear a hodgepodge of an accent that's why. I'm finishing up my final semester at Trinity, then I'm hoping to go to law school!  Interests:  Academically, I am heavily involved with a lot of the political groups on campus -- I am the current president of the political science honour society as well as working for the TU Voter Engagement Task Force and MOVETexas (basically, if there's something to do with voting or political discussion on campus you can probably find me there)! I've always loved the process of turning ideas into reality, and have had the opportunity to start a research journal on campus recently (we published our first issue in December so I'm really excited about that).  National Voter Registration Day! I've also been reall...

Currently, I am on track to graduate with my bachelor's degree in Fall 2026.  Interests My main academic interests involve accounting, where I plan on eventually becoming a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and working on the tax side of accounting. Outside of accounting, I like to read and write, which is why I am also pursuing a minor in English. In particular, I really enjoy Shakespeare and I am taking my third Shakespeare class this semester.
